Image-only PDF - contains a bitmapped image of the
page. The cheapest and quickest way to convert paper to PDF is to convert to
this format. The conversion process consists of scanning hardcopy originals into
TIFF Group IV image files, which are then distilled to PDF image only format.
This type of PDF file is an exact replication of the original, so the PDF file
is only as legible as the source. Also, the document's text is not searchable,
and hyperlinks and bookmarks are not fully functional.
Almost any image file may be converted to confer the
unique advantages of PDF. Suntec specializes in the conversion of paper
documents, but we handle all kinds of electronic files, from bitmaps to
Zip-compressed TIFFs, or any other graphic format.
Pages will be retained as image only. Accuracy is
inherently high based on the image displayed. Image files (photographs, page
images, EPS art, etc.) can be bookmarked and thumbnails created. Total fidelity
to the original paper document is assured.
Suntec can also generate index and metadata to facilitate your
application. PDF/Image format files are moderate in size, typically around
40-60kb per page at 300 dpi without grayscale or color images.
Color image files, unless heavily compressed, color-depth reduced
and downsampled to low resolutions, will tend to be quite large. If you want
those color and half-tone images to look good in your PDF files without paying a
huge file-size price, then check out our Multi-resolution PDF
conversion services.Typical applications for this format include:
- Highly cost-effective document storage and archiving
- Research/reference materials where text-searchability is not required
- Print or Fax On Demand
