Client Background

The client, Designer Plumbing Outlet, has been around for eleven years. Based in Jupiter, Florida it deals in finely crafted sinks, faucets and other bathroom accessories. Shoppers visit the client’s eStore not just because of the quality of its offerings, but also because the site provides them expert guidance in selecting the right bathroom accessories and plumbing supplies. DPO has always enjoyed high ratings and is a popular store on Yahoo, and Nextag.

Client Requirements

The client was searching for a service provider who could perform product data entry upon their online Yahoo Store. The client wanted us to capture and enter vast quantities of product data from manufacturers’ and retailors’ websites. It included product features, images and product descriptions. Besides, there were also 50,000 SKUs to be entered in the designated fields of a .CSV sheet. While performing product data entry, the client also expected us to edit his product images and modify his product descriptions to ensure that they are one hundred per cent unique.

Our Solution

The project was assigned to a team of ten Yahoo product data entry specialists. Besides entering the SKUs and other product data, we edited and improved the product images and wrote unique, SEO friendly product descriptions. Alongside, we also set up payment methods, shipping details and tax rates. The initial phase of the project lasted for about eight months.

Our Yahoo product data entry specialists did the following:

  • Astutely developed the eStore’s product taxonomy so that all found what they were looking for on the eStore easily.
  • Keyed in the product name, price, weight, SKUs, quantity, abstract, caption, etc. with one hundred per cent accuracy. They also worked product on the product meta tags and meta titles, product URLs and the product descriptions ensuring that they are SEO friendly.
  • They wrote one hundred per cent unique product descriptions
  • Our yahoo product data entry specialists worked on and improved the product images. They removed patches and blemishes from them, cropped them, improved their resolution and, whenever needed, performed masking and resizing. They also took care to remove all jarring backgrounds.
  • They wrote and posted brief reviews and comments on comparison shopping engines such as ResellerRatings, PriceGrabber, BizRate, etc.
  • Enriched the product data by adding ‘specials’ like feature pricing, volume pricing and discount pricing.
  • Leveraged the Yahoo Up-Sell and Yahoo Cross-Sell Features.


There was a marked improvement in the accuracy and integrity of client’s product data. Our professionals entered all the product data, including the 50,000 SKUs, with one hundred per cent accuracy. Because of our efficiency, there was a reduction in the cycle time required to upload the products. It reduced from three days to just one day. This, in turn, improved the time needed to market them. Overall, there was a substantial improvement in the client’s business process quality.


The client’s online store’s conversion rates noticeably improved as its product data was now more accurate. Besides, the work we did on the eStore’s product taxonomy made it easier for shoppers to locate a particular product on it. There was also a vital reduction in the cycle time required to upload the products. It reduced from three days to just one day. The client’s process quality and productivity improved, allowing him to made cost savings.
